It can be scary to find pests around the house. There are numerous pests that can get inside your home within seconds. Even with a clean home and a watchful eye on the door, pests can find their way in. This article has many common methods of pest control.
Start with the source. If you have a pest problem, eliminate their food source. One reason you may have a problem is because your house provides food, water or shelter for a pest. Search for and eliminate leaks, exposed food and structural damage that allows pests to enter your home.

If there are rats and mice in your area, make sure any new trees you plant are sufficiently far from your house. This makes it easy way for rodents to climb and enter your house through the attic or attic. A good rule of thumb is to plant trees no less than 15 feet from the least.
Keep your plumbing clear of debris if you would like to keep pests out of your home. Ensure that there are no clogs in your sinks and drains inside and outside your home. Outdoor lighting can attract pests, but it also attracts bugs. If you must have outdoor lighting, pick colors that attract fewer insects, pink, as these tend to attract pests much less.
Be sure and get rid of any fallen trees in your yard. Chop it up to make firewood. If you do not have a use for it, you can sell it or give it to someone. Take care to eliminate the stump as well. Stumps are no longer alive, and these are prime dwellings for termites.
Cut up all the branches and the trunk to use for firewood. You can use it yourself or give it to friends.Don’t just leave the stump though.
Keep mosquitoes away by giving them no place to go. You should drain places where water sits stale. Mosquitoes are able to breed anywhere a small amount of water.
Mice have been know to infest campers, RVs and cars that are being stored for the winter. Thankfully, you can use natural repellents to discourage mice from entering and living in your camper. The small bags of repellents are not only safe, but will smell nice and will stop mice from taking up residence in your camper or RV.
Dry Goods
Be sure to store dry goods in sealed plastic containers. Dry goods in original containers (bags and boxes) are easy for pests to access. Transfer your dry goods into sealed bins each time you shop.
Exterior lighting can also attract pests. Don’t put exterior lighting right next to the entrance of your house. You can reduce the pests’ chance of entering by using orange or yellow lights since they aren’t as attracted to them.
Seal any small entry points into your house with caulk. Foggers and sprays will not be able to go behind your cabinets or deep into the bugs are living. Use caulking to seal up the places where bugs favor entering.
These foams can reach a long way and are also very effective against bees or wasps. Wait until all the bees are no longer living before removing the hive.
When battling mice and rats, bear in mind that they usually eat pretty much anything. Bits of meat, jelly, peanut butter, cheese and other foods are going to be effective in traps. You can use spoiled food to catch mice and dispose of your bad leftovers!
