A small aperture–no more than f/8 on a digital camera and no more than f/16 on a SLR–can show sharpness in both the background and foreground.
If you plan to shoot images indoors with fluorescent lights overhead, adjust the cameras white balance to the proper settings. Fluorescent lights cast blue and green light, so the subject will appear “cooler-toned,” without having to compensate for the fewer red tones from your camera.
White is a terrible color to choose for an outfit when being photographed. White clothing will register as an abundance of available light and cause an overexposed appearance in these photographs.
